  the middle value of a sorted data set: position $(n+1)/2$ ; if $n$ is even, the median is the mean of the two center values

  $Me = L_b + P \cdot \dfrac{N/2 - F_{kl}}{F_{me}}$ , where $L_b$ is the median class's lower boundary, $F_{kl}$ is the cumulative frequency before the median class, $F_{me}$ is the median class's own frequency (not cumulative), and $P$ is the class width

  the median class is the first class whose cumulative frequency reaches at least $N/2$
